2014 Year in Review

It is that time again...The 2014 YEAR IN REVIEW!

January: Mike turned 33.  Had baby #3, Garett.  Starting the year off adjusting to life with 3 boys.  My mom came to help.

February:  I'm still on maternity leave until the end of February.  Valentines day.  It was pretty boring because it was cold outside and we had a new baby.

March: Blessed Garett, and Gavin turns 5.  Celebrated 9 years of being married.

April: Greyson turns 3.  Celebrated Easter.  Got a new Washer and Dryer.

May: Gavin graduated from Preschool.  Greyson burnt his hand.  Went to the zoo.

June: I stopped nursing and we started Garett on Formula.

July:  4th of July and 24th of July.  Sweet Sister Scott passed away.

August: Gavin starts Kindergarten, and Greyson starts Preschool.  I have been at my job for 8 years.  Mike has been in the Navy for 6 years.

September:  Mike has been at K&S for 2 years.

October:  I turned 32.  Halloween.

November:  So much to be thankful for.  Thanksgiving.  Accidents, Hospital stays, and broken toilets.
December:  Christmas.  Donating to PCMC.  Christmas Parties.  Greyson graduates from Nursery.

2014 was one of the best years yet.  I am thankful for our health insurance and car insurance and that we have a place to call home.  I can't complain about anything in 2014.  I hope that 2015 is just as great!

Snow Boys

These boys love to get ready and play in the snow.  It just takes forever to get them ready and they only play outside for a couple minutes because their hands start getting cold!

Christmas 2014

We had a great Christmas 2014.  It was filled with fun and family.  The boys loved opening their presents and playing with all the stuff they got while they could before we headed out to Uncle Chuck's (Mike's brother) house.  We woke up around 8:30 to open presents and had our traditional Monkey Bread breakfast.

Gavin's favorite present was his laptop computer and stop sign

Greyson's favorite present was his Dragon and Castle

Garett's favorite present was his Ballapalooza

Mike liked his carpet cleaner and Jurassic Park Movie set

I love my Jawbone Up!

It was a great Christmas, we were very spoiled this year and we are thankful for each and every year we are together, healthy, happy and thriving!

It is Better to GIVE than Receive

This year in Mike's family, it was decided that we would use the money that we would have spent on a family exchange and put it toward a Primary Childrens Medical Center donation.  We talked to Gavin and Greyson all December about it and took them to pick out material for blankets and had them pick out a toy each to donate.

I think by Christmas, it had finally set in and they were so excited to take the stuff to the Hospital.  While I was sowing and tying the blankets they kept talking about the blankets and toys going to the hospital because they needed them more than we did.  On Christmas, one of the cousins started playing with one of the toys we were going to donate and Greyson walked over to him and told him "No, no, that is a toy for the hospital.  We can't play with it because we are donating that to the hospital for them to play with it."  It was so cute and awesome for them to both notice and realize that we can do more to help out.  Gavin kept telling people all month long that Christmas isn't about receiving, it is about GIVING.

On Saturday the 27th, we headed to the Hospital to make the donation.  We brought a lot of stuff and I am so thankful that we could do that this year.  I am thankful that we had the means and resources to donate and teach our boys this year what Christmas is all about.  They didn't want to take a picture with the stuff we donated, but they wanted to get a picture after all the stuff was moved!  Cute boys!

The boys at the hospital, so excited to donate to those in the hospital!
Our Family Donation.  Lots of blankets, cards, and toys

UPDATE - We received a letter from PCMC thanking us for our donation!  It is nice to be thanked for our time, thoughts and actions!

Thanksgiving

Lets talk about Thanksgiving 2014, shall we?  It started off with a bang and didn't get any better.  The day before Thanksgiving, Greyson started getting a raspy voice. Then he started coughing and by 2am Thanksgiving morning, he was wheezing really bad, coughing and not breathing very well.  We tried the cold air outside and the steamy shower air, but nothing was helping or working, so we made our way to the AF Hospital ER. They just opened a new ER, so that was nice, and it wasn't busy, so we got in and started treating him with a Breathing treatment and steroids. We got home about 5:30 and got a little bit more sleep before Thanksgiving was to start.

Greyson and I in the hospital
As we were cleaning the house, getting ready for our Thanksgiving guests to come, Gavin went to the bathroom and came and told us that the toilet was broken.  That is all we need before having people over, a broken toilet.  Luckily it was just the handle that broke and made it so that it wouldn't flush, an easy fix!  We decided to deep fry a turkey this year and had the missionaries over as well as my brother Jason and Mike's mom Mary.  Right before dinner was going to start, Jason came inside to tell us that someone hit our Durango.  We parked it out on the street in front of our house so that Mike could deep fry the turkey without worrying about the car. Well the across the street neighbor didn't see our car or something and backed right into the Durango denting the driver side door, and destroying the side view mirror. We still haven't gotten it fixed (that is a whole nother issue)

Poor sad banged up Durango
After dinner and everyone left, we cleaned up and relaxed because it was a stressful, busy day.  I think we were all in bed by 9 and asleep shortly after.  Jason woke up the next day and left early and we took off to Hill Air Force Base to check out the Black Friday deals.  Even though Greyson was sick and the neighbor hit our car, I am Thankful this year for so much.  I am Thankful for Car insurance and Health insurance.  I am Thankful that we have our health and 3 cute, healthy boys.  I am Thankful that we have jobs that help us afford our house and cars and things that we need and sometimes want.  We have a lot to be Thankful for this year and I am grateful for the Gospel and family!

Our Turkey! (She tasted so good!)

Ugly Christmas Sweater

I don't know if I have ever blogged about my Ugly Christmas Sweater.  I made this sweater the year that Gavin was born because we needed one for work and I couldn't find one that I liked.  I found one like it on the internet and decided to make my own.  It lights up and is kinda starting to fall apart, but I still love it.  Next year, I think I need to make a new one.

We had an Ugly Christmas Sweater party at work this year and of course, my sweater won!

Nursery

This is Greyson's last year of Nursery, he will be going to Primary and Sunbeams next year (week, Sunday).  It makes me sad and happy for him.  Hopefully he will be a good boy and go! (he is the reason I am in Nursery!)  The Sunday before Christmas we had the kids make these hand ornaments, and when I got home, I laminated mine so we could keep it forever.  I kinda love it!

Bath Boy

This boy (like his brother Greyson, and unlike his brother Gavin) LOVES his Bath!  I used to put Greyson in the bath when he was having a rough day and he would become so happy (and it still helps today for him too!)  Baths do the same for Garett.

Kindergarten Christmas Party

On December 19th, Gavin had his Kindergarten Christmas Party.  At the beginning of the year, when we had back to school night, there were signups for the class parties for the year.  I asked Gavin which ones he wanted me to help with and he said Christmas and Valentines Day, so those are the 2 I signed up for.  I was asked to bring the drinks and to make these cute snowman cups.  I only burned my hand once and they turned out so cute.

Gavin had so much fun at his party and giving his teacher her Christmas Gift.  He loves Kindergarten, school and his teacher!

Santa 2014

Of course we took the boys to see Santa this year, and just like in years past, we went to Walmart.  Because it is free!  Gavin loved seeing Santa and Greyson and Garett were a little scared, but did so good.  I am glad I got a good picture this year, which reminds me that I need to go to Walmart and see if they still have the picture they took :)

SNOW

We got a lot of snow on Christmas day and the weekend after Christmas.  The boys were so excited and ask all the time to go shovel in it.  This was Monday the 29th after the biggest snow storm.  We haven't had this much snow in Eagle Mountain since I was pregnant with Gavin.  A couple years ago, we bought Gavin a little shovel from Harmons.  Last year while I was in the hospital having Garett, Greyson wanted to shovel with Gavin but there was only 1 shovel.  So, I bought a couple more shovels so we have 3 now, no more fighting and everyone has a shovel!

Christmas Eve Pajamas

After Temple Square, we drove home trying to find something open to eat, and there was basically nothing. It was ridiculous! So we bought some snacks at Maverik and went home to open Christmas Eve pajamas.  I tied fleece blankets for the boys this year too and gave Gavin and Greyson slippers.  Garett wasn't having any of it.  He was tired and hungry!

Christmas Eve (Lights on Temple Square)

This year for Christmas Eve, Mike's sister Michelle came into town and wasn't staying for very long.  So Mike wanted to spend some time with her while she was here.  They wanted to go to Temple Square to see the lights so we meet them up there.  It was a nice night and we had a lot of fun together as a family and seeing family.

We got so many comments about the boys hats.  The day after Thanksgiving we went to the BX up at Hill Air Force Base and Mike found these animal hats with mittens attached to the hats.  Gavin has a Dalmatian Dog hat, Greyson has a Tiger and Garett has a Moose.  Everyone that sees them loves them, and the boys love them too!

These Boys

I love these two boys! And I love that they love each other.

Hand Me Downs

We of course have 3 boys, so all the clothes are hand me downs from Gavin and Greyson to Garett.  Some of the clothes are in better condition than others, as experienced in this next picture.  Thankfully most of the clothes to his point have been good enough to pass to Baby Ivan, but I have a feeling that the bigger Garett gets and the more clothes Greyson wears out, we will have to start buying new clothes.

Water

Back in September, Eagle Mountain warned residents that there was a "Break In" in one of the city's water towers and wanted to run tests on the water before residents were okay to use it.  That meant that we had to go about 24 hours with water we had on hand, not using the tap water for cooking, cleaning and bathing/showering.  It was really fun, NOT.  But we made it through because we had decided we needed to start our food and water storage, so we had enough to make it the 24 hours.  The next day, we even went and stocked back up on more water just in case.  We are all set now.

Crawling Garett

I don't know if I blogged about this or not, but Garett has been my early crawler.  He wanted to crawl so bad between 7 and 8 months and worked so hard to try to get it but just before he turned 9 months, he finally got it down.
