Flat Tire

I was on my way home from work yesterday with the windows rolled down, because it was a beautiful day.  I was on Pioneer Crossing and just pass the new Holiday Oil on 500 West when I started to hear a funny noise out the window.  Then my car started driving a little sluggish, so I decided I had better pull over.  Pioneer Crossing is a busy road and people are whizzing by me like it is no big deal, so I got out the passenger side, to see that my back passenger side tire was flat.  And by flat I mean, 3 big holes in the tire.  Great!  I call Mike and he grabs tools and 20 minutes later is with me and doesn't have the right tools for the tire.  So we drive back to Mike's work, get the right tools and drive back to the car.  The jack is being difficult (because we forgot to put something in front of the front tire so the car wouldn't roll off the jack) and it makes is harder that we are right next to the curb.  We finally get the car jacked up, the flat tire off and the spare on.  When we release the jack, the spare tire releases all its air!  Dang it, the spare is flat too!  So we drive the car off the busy Pioneer Crossing to the school on 1700 West and take the tire to Discount Tire.  I drop Mike off because it is 5:30 and they close at 6 and drive home to pick up the boys.  We head back to Discount and get there at 6:30 $115 poorer, but with a new tire!  We head to dinner at Chick-Fil-A and then drive to change the tire.  As soon as we got there at 7:15, the tire was changed in 15 minutes and we were on our way home!  We got home a little after 8, put the boys' jammies on and put them to bed! Yesterday was a crazy day!

Home Depot

Since we have been remodeling the Kitchen, Dining Room, and Downstairs bedroom, we have been spending a lot of time at Home Depot.  We were there again this last weekend and Greyson and Garett were making the most of it.  Gavin wasn't feeling good, so he sat in the cart the entire time, but I am sure when we go again in the next couple weeks, he will be joining in on the fun.

Dad had drill this weekend too, so Garett was helping dad by holding his hat

St. Patricks Day 2015

We went to the park after work on St. Patricks day.  Here are the boys playing at the park in their green!

And here is Garett in his "vintage" 2010 Green St. Patricks day shirt that Gavin wore in 2010 for this day as well.

Life Lately

This has been our life lately...

Jeep out and being used everyday, wagon out for walks and bikes available for riding when Mom gets home from work.  We have had fun playing outside! (And now I can't park in the garage because we have so much stuff in the way.  Our next project is to reorganize the garage for all the boys outside toys!)

School Update

Lets have a School update for Gavin and I, shall we?

Yesterday I got a letter in the mail from Fortis College telling me that I wasn't chosen for their April 2015 Dental Hygiene program.  I had a minute of poor me, but then I remembered that I wouldn't be able to go even if I did get in and I have other plans for school now.  There must be something better out there waiting for me.

Also yesterday, Gavin got a letter in the mail from Orchard Elementary in Orem accepting him into their Dual Immersion Spanish Program for next year.  On his birthday, we received an email from BlackRidge Elementary in Eagle Mountain accepting him into their Chinese Dual Immersion Program for next year.  We got a phone call on the 3rd of March from Harvest Elementary in Saratoga Springs stating that he wasn't selected into their Spanish Dual Immersion for next year.  But he got into two programs.  We had a decision to make.  Gavin has been very vocal since January about Spanish, so it was really a no brainer for him to do Spanish.  So we have committed to the Orchard Elementary Spanish Dual Immersion Program for next year.  Luckily it is right down the street from my work, so I have signed him up for the 9:15-3:30 school day.  Now I need to figure out what to do with him from 7-9 AM in Orem... and Early out Mondays...

Playing with Friends

The last week I have had the feeling more than ever that we need to have friends.  I need friends and the boys need friends.  How do we get new friends?  How about playing with friends we already have?  So I sent my friend Rachel, who just moved from Eagle Mountain to Pleasant Grove, a text asking her if we could see her new house and play?  The boys were so excited to go play.

Kitchen and Dining Room Remodel

We are on a Remodel Roll at our house...

We got our tax return at the end of February.  At the beginning of March we set out to find some wood flooring that we liked and that wouldn't break the bank.  We ended up at Lumber Liquidators and found the perfect flooring that was only $1.29 Square Foot.  It is a discontinued flooring, but that's okay.  We ordered 270 Square feet hoping our math was correct and we would have enough.

The wood came in on Friday the 13th of March, so we went to pick it up and started our demolition.  On Saturday, we started laying the wood at about 1 pm and stapling it into the floor.  Thanks for the help Chuck and Glen we finally finished the kitchen at around 9pm Saturday night.  On Sunday we started in the dining room.  It went a lot faster in the dining room and we were done with it about 7pm on Sunday.  Then we had to put everything back and clean up.

I am so proud of us for doing this.  We did it all on our own with a little bit of help and we did it all in one weekend with 3 crazy boys to entertain.  At the beginning of the year, I told Mike that I was sick and tired of moping my kitchen floor because it didn't ever get clean.  So we made the plan to update our floor, and we stuck with in and did it.  And it only cost us about $600.  I love my floor now!

10 Years

Whoa - What!  Mike and I have been married for 10 years now.  Can you believe it?  It is kinda crazy!  We have lived in 1 house, 1 apartment, had 4 pregnancies and 3 babies (boys!). We have had 10 cars between us and 11 jobs (including the Navy).  We have been in 4 different ward buildings since being married.  We have had 4 dogs (one of which wasn't really ours, we just rescued him for my mother in law) We have done numerous house projects.  It has been a crazy wild ride, but I am glad I have Mike riding with me.  Happy 10th Anniversary Mike!

Gavin's Birthday

On Monday the 9th, Gavin turned 6 years old.  I am pretty burned out on birthday parties, so after Garett's 1st, I told Gavin and Greyson that instead of a party this year, we were going to have a day out where they could choose what we did and that is how we are going to celebrate.

So on Saturday the 7th we started with going to Lunch at IHOP as Gavin requested.  There was an awesome balloon lady there making balloon animals and the boys loved that.  Gavin got a monkey, Greyson got a dinosaur and Garett got a sword.  After IHOP, we went to Scheels and saw the fishies and let Gavin ride the Ferris Wheel.  He wanted to ride it with Grandma (Mike's mom) so they went for a ride.  After the Ferris Wheel, we walked around a little bit then went to South Towne Mall so get the screen protector on my phone changed out.  While we were there, the boys wanted to ride the Carousel.  After the Mall, we slowly made our way to the Bowling Alley in Lehi for Gavin's Bowling party.  We bowled a couple games, ate Pizza and enjoyed being together.

On Sunday, we gave Gavin his presents and ate the Cake that the bowling alley gave us for his party (YAY, I didn't have to make it!)  He got a new Bike, a Live Pets Bird and a Fur Real Kitty.  He loves riding his new bike and making his bird repeat things he says.

On Monday, his birthday, he woke up to the usual balloons in his room, we went to Lunch at Arby's (his favorite) and ate Pasta Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner (his choice) and had ice cream sundaes/cones for FHE to celebrate.  I can't believe my little guy is 6 years old!  He is growing up so fast! (Get ready for picture overload!)

Hair Cut

On Saturday, the 7th, we FINALLY got Garett's haircut.  It needed to be done.  And he hated it, the whole thing.  At least he looks super cute now, and can see out his eyes without hair in the way.  Cute kid.

Behavioral Chart

A couple weeks ago, we had a Family Home Evening on being good boys.  We printed out a Behavioral Chart and made clothes pin markers with their names so they knew where they were.  They could earn a bubble gum at the end of the day if they were good to put in the bubble gum machine.  After 10 bubble gums, they could earn a prize.  We finally hit that goal last week and they both earned a prize!  Now they know they can do it and we are starting over again.  YAY for prizes and good behavior!

Lunch Date

On Saturday, Gavin wanted to go grocery shopping with us.  We are trying to stay home as much as possible while we are still recovering from last month and not get sick again.  We went to Subway after shopping, his choice, because he wanted to eat chips and get a drink.  Cute boy!

Garett

Garett gets so upset if he can't be right with us.  I have to put up the gate when it is just me and I am bathing someone other than Garett, because he has to be right there with us. Poor kid :(

New Living Room

So a couple posts ago, I mentioned that we are doing some remodeling.  We did some furniture remodeling in our living room.  We have had our couch for 9 years and it was on its last leg.  We needed something that we could all sit on and still have room and grow into, that was comfy too.  We found a sectional from some people who used to live in our neighborhood and bought it for $400! (GREAT DEAL)

We bought a Wii U for the boys for Christmas because in July our Wii crapped out on us and we lost all of our games and stuff.  When we went to plug the Wii U in to see if it worked before Christmas, we couldn't plug it into the TV, because we have an older than sin TV.  Seriously, the TV was probably about 8 years old.  And everything is moving to HDMI and that fun stuff now.  So the day after Thanksgiving we drove up to Hill Air Force Base to see what deals they had on a TV.  We bought a 50" Samsung Smart TV for $400.  It sat in our hall for 2 months until we finally bought a stand from Walmart and set it all up the Saturday before the Superbowl.

So we have a new TV, TV stand and couch in our living room.  YAY for new stuff!  Now to remodel the rest of the house ;)
