Birthday Party

It's time to blog about Gavin's birthday party. It only happened 3 weeks ago. We had some of Mike's family come & my sister & brother-in-law as well has some long time friends. Thanks to Mary & Michelle for helping decorate the cake...it looked AMAZING after you worked your magic! We sat around a talked, ate dinner, opened presents, sang Happy Birthday & ate cake! Thanks everyone for supporting Gavin & coming to his birthday party. We had a great time. Enjoy the fun pictures!

We got together last weekend with Mike's Family because his Grandma was in town. Gavin & Preslie are only 6 months apart & they had a BLAST together! Check it out for yourself!

This picture below was taken a couple weeks ago at Gavin's Birthday Party. I hope these two will be GREAT friends! Preslie will teach Gavin so much! I can't wait to see them interact in the future.

Last Friday coming home from a busy day of errands we past a little park in Eagle Mountain on our way home & decided that since it was a beautiful day so we decided to stop & play for a minute. It was Gavin's first time on the slide.

1 Year

Here is Gavin's 1 year update. 1st for his stats:

Weight: 18 lbs - 5th%tile

Head: 18.25 cm - 35th%tile
Length: 28 inches - 23rd%tile

The doc said that his weight was normal because I am still nursing & since he is nursing less & less, that is why he isn't at the 20 lbs yet. That means no forward facing car seat yet (boo!) Everything checked out great with him & he got 4 vaccinations (double boo!) The doc also said that we can now feed him whatever.

Speaking of food, Gavin loves food. He will eat just about anything. He LOVED his birthday cake. I almost think he liked to play with it more, but he did try to eat some of it. He loves Bananas, Grilled Cheese sandwhiches & Cows milk. Now if we can just get the sippy cup down. I have only been working on it with him for 6 months now! Anyone have any tricks, tips or suggestions?

His new thing pulling himself up on the couch & letting go for a couple seconds & then falling to his bum & laughing his head off. He thinks it is the funniest thing & will stand a little bit longer each time he does it before falling. He will be standing on his own soon.

He is becoming the little dare devil & will pull himself up on anything...your leg, the couch, crib, dresser, chair, desk, table, really anything.

He really likes to walk when you are holding his hands & is starting to walk more & more around things.

He has started sleeping on his belly in his crib with his butt sticking up! It is SUPER cute!

He loves reading his books during the day & having "story time" at night! He also loves his Baby Einsteins DVDs. He points & laughs at them.

He is ALWAYS shaking his head "no." I have seen him nod a couple of times but it is mostly "no!"

He still only has 4 teeth.

He still loves bath time & goes to bed about 7:30 every night. I am going to try to start weening him soon in the morning. He has been still waking up at 6 before work so I have been feeding him, but if he starts sleeping longer, I will ween. + we only have about 15 bags of milk left so as soon as that is gone & he is taking a sippy, he will be off the bottle!

I really don't know about "words" that he says now. He does say momma & dadda. He says dahe (doggy) & I don't really know any others. When we ask him where Bear is he will always look around for him & point him out. He has just started crawling over to Bear now when we ask him where Bear is. He will look around for him & when he finds him he will crawl as fast as he can to get to him. He is so cute!

Bear & Gavin play great together & Bear just lets Gavin do whatever.

Gavin is all over the place & into everything. He found the pots & pan drawer this week & loves playing in that.

It has been a GREAT year & we can't wait to discover with the next year will bring.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary Mikey baby! I can't believe we have been married for 5 years! I seems like just yesterday we met, then we were getting married, buying our first house together, joining the military & then having a baby. So many ups & downs the last 5 years, but lets be honest. I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else, even the hard times! I look back at all our accomplishments & it amazes me how much we have grown. As individuals, as a couple & as parents! Hopefully the next 5 years will be better then the last 5! Here is to many more experiences, joys, pains, happiness & lessons! I love you!

Happy 1st Birthday my sweet little Monkey!

We love you so much & we are so glad that you decided to choose us for your eternal family. The last year has been filled with ups & downs, highs & lows, lots of new things, learning from both of our ends, love, happiness, sickness...basically filled with lots of things. It is funny & so true how they say you can't picture your life with a child until you have one & you can't picture your life without a child once you have one. I don't even remember our lives without you in it. It has been a tough road, but we have made it this far. I didn't even think I was going to make it the first 6 weeks, but here we are, moving on to the next chapter of our lives.

You are such a great baby. You do have a slight temper, but who doesn't? Most of the time you have made Motherhood easy for me! There have been times I haven't known what to do or what was going on with you, but we have learned from these experiences. You have learned so much which I have tried my hardest to document in our family blog. It is so fun to look back over the past year & see what you were doing. Hopefully one day I can take all these posts & make them into a book for you. You still have so much more to learn & accomplish & we can't wait to see what's next.

You are surrounded by so much love. Your dad & I love you so much. Your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, neighbors, babysitter love you so much! Remember that we are always here for you if you ever need us.

Good Things Utah

There is a TV show in Utah in the mornings like "The View" called "Good Things Utah". They do a segment on their show every morning called "Baby's First Birthday." I sent a picture yesterday to them to have them show it on their show next Tuesday (Gavin's 1st Birthday!) I just received an email from the producer stating that they received the picture & to be on the lookout for it on the show next Tuesday!

So...If you are in Utah & want to see my Cute Little guy on his big 1st Birthday, tune into "Good Things Utah" at 10am on ABC4 Channel 4 next Tuesday, March 9th to see him in the segment "Baby's First Birthday!" Don't worry, I will be DVRing it so we can watch it over & over! I can't wait!

Busy Month

I NEED to add pictures, this blog is looking a little bland & bare. Anywho...it is officially MARCH. The busiest month of the year for us I think. It is the month of:

At the beginning of last month (February) I was really dreading today. I was remembering the 1st of March last year & I was kind of dreading it then too. Last year because it was just getting closer to when Gavin would be here & I didn't feel ready. I knew he would eventually have to come out, I didn't know it was going to be in 8 days. At the beginning of last month I was dreading it because that would mean that Gavin is 1, no longer a baby, more a toddler. But today, it is whole different story. I am anticipating it, I am looking forward to it, I am reeling in the busy-ness of this month & I am LOVING it! It is like I had an attitude adjustment or an epiphany of the greatness to come...or something like that!

So MARCH - I have 3 words for you...BRING. IT. ON! This month is going to fly by & in a blink of an eye it will be April before we know it!
