13 Month Update

Sorry for the crappy picture, we haven't taken pictures for a while!

I got a call from my momma yesterday...I haven't put new pictures of the little guy up on the blog & they are having with drawls. hehe! I told her I haven't taken pictures lately because we have been sick...better get on that!

Here is his 13 month update. A couple weeks late, but better late then never. Gotta have it for my 2010 blog book to print out at the end of the year. Here is what Gavin has been up to the last month.

*We took him to the Dr. on the 13th & he weighted 18 lbs 12 oz. He gained almost a whole pound in a month...sadly we took him back on the 17th because of the double ear infection & he was down to 18 lbs 1 oz. He lost 11 oz. We are trying to beef him back up!

*He has had his 1st double ear infection...& I hope it was it last!

*He is walking around everything...the couch, with his little cart walker thingy, chairs, legs, the tub or toilet. He is getting there. One day he will finally be walking by himself!

*He talks so much & tries to repeat anything & everything you say. He says "Tank to" (thank you) "ood" (good) "Hi", "Hey", & the usual. I am trying to get him to say "bye" but no such luck yet.

*He is done with baby food...he REFUSES to eat it anymore. & you can't trick him, he knows. But he will eat pretty much anything else you will give to him. Corndogs, chicken nuggets, pizza. He likes it all.

*He loves himself some cows milk & drinks about 24 or so oz a day of it!

*He is a GREAT sleeper. We put him down around 7:30 every night & he sleeps until about 7:30 the next morning.

*He has a new day care provider...I am not a fan. We are looking for a new one!

*He has a new favorite toy. Last year when we had a yard sale, the neighbors were selling this "Lightning McQueen" car & we bought it from them for Gavin (his room is Cars). That is his FAVORITE toy as of late!

*He have moved him into his "big boy car seat." Don't worry, not forward facing, but still rear facing. We are hoping that by his 15 month appt. he will finally be 20 lbs, so we can turn him around!

We will see what else his little guy can do in the next month!

The End of an Era!

I am FINALLY getting around to posting this. I still have other things to post, but this one doesn't require pictures, so I can do it at work!

GAVIN IS FINALLY DONE NURSING!

It is bittersweet to say, & feel. His last night was the 15th. Had I known, I would have treasured it more, but I didn't. He stopped himself. On Friday he just wouldn't take it...& we were done. He nursed for 13 Months 6 days! That is AMAZING if you ask me!

So far I have celebrated my accomplishment by getting Strep, drinking as many Dr. Pepper's as I can get my grubby hands on & eating Spicy Wings (Gavin didn't like those so much, I missed them). I am so PROUD of myself!

Funny Story

Yesterday I got sick...& it hit really hard, really fast. Saturday night we took Gavin to the Drs. because he was SO SICK & wouldn't stop crying, he has double ear infections. I went to the Dr. today & I have strep! Gavin started feeling better yesterday & I am still not feeling better, but that isn't the story, because as the title states, it is a funny story & so far...this isn't funny!

Tonight I have been worse then when I 1st got sick & I am here by myself taking care of Gavin while Mike is at work! I was STRUGGLING! I didn't give Gavin a bath because I have NO strength, so I just changed him into his pj's & that was really it. I didn't brush his teeth, or anything like that because I am so afraid of him getting what I have. Even though he is on antibiotics! I am too but am still contagious! SAD DAY!

Okay...getting to the funny story now! Tonight I was really struggling with his medicine, I just couldn't get it together. So I walked away from him to get a wet one because it kept spilling it everywhere. When I walked away I said "Gosh Dang it" & then Gavin said "Josh Dihih." It was SUPER HILARIOUS! I couldn't help but laugh! He totally made my night & made me feel just that much better! I love you Gavin!

Easter 2010

For Easter this year my Sister-in-law wanted to do Easter Pictures in the kids Easter outfits. We met at Walmart on Saturday for a Photo Shoot & let me tell you what...it was NOT a fun time. If 1 baby was okay, the other was screaming. They kept crawling/scooting away & yeah. Great fun! We did manage to get some GREAT SHOTS! Loves them!

On Easter Sunday we went up to Michelle's house for Conference & an Easter Brunch! It was yummy & fun to hang out with family. Gavin loves playing with & following around his cousins. He made it an early night because Gavin didn't nap at all at Michelle's, so we came home & hung out before bed time as a family!

Here is a picture of Gavin's Easter basket. We just got him toys, stuffed animals & a chair to sit in. When he saw it Sunday morning, he started squealing & getting excited! He LOVED it!

My Mother-in-law also gave Gavin this Horse that he LOVES. When we put him on it, we have to be prepared to have him either throw a temper tantrum if we take him off, or stop rocking him & we have to redirect his attention. When he is still on the horse & we stop rocking him, he will rock side to side to get us to start rocking again (the horse rocks forward to back, so it is kinda cute) When he is not on it he will crawl over to it, climb up to it & rock it himself! Cute!

It was a great Easter/Conference Sunday!

5k

Time to catch up on the blog. Gavin has been sick the last couple days & I am exhausted & should go to bed because he is in bed & it will probably be another long night, but I need to catch up on this, so lets get to it!

The 5k, my 1st 5k. I didn't do good at all. It was the morning of Saturday, March 27th, 2010. It was freezing. To start, I didn't really train very good. Second, about 3 minutes in, I had an asthma attack & forgot my inhaler. I started to go back for it but then I felt better & decided that I could do it & finish. I had to walk most of it & my time was 45 minutes, but I am hoping to do better for my next one which is the Eagle Mountain 5k on June 5th. I am still trying to decide if I want to run it so we will see.

I ran this 5k with my sister-in-law & niece. They did great! Hopefully there will be a next time & I will start getting back on the training bandwagon! Enjoy the pictures!

I have an AMAZING story to tell you. About 6 months ago I kept hearing about this Essential Oils company & how they were working wonders for everyone who had been using them. I tried for a couple months to make some classes that friends & family were having of this product to learn more about them, but it never worked out. A couple weeks ago after we got our Tax Return money I BEGGED Mike to let me have some money to put into these oils for our family. Of course he agreed because he has heard of the AMAZING stories too. I talked to a friend that had a class that I didn't make & asked her for the lady's info & got into touch with her. After a couple weeks of missed emails, phone tag & meeting for dinner, we finally connected. She made me a deal that I couldn't refuse & I now have about 25 essential oils for my family to start out with.

Are you ready for the AMAZING part? I got these oils yesterday & hadn't had the chance to use them yet let alone figure out what they are for, but tonight we NEEDED them! I went to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant with my bestie & gave Gavin some Rice & Beans. Probably not the best combo for a 13 month old (13 months today...stay tuned for that post!) Gavin slept on the way home but when we got home the DRAMA started. Gavin was SCREAMING in pain...I could tell, but I couldn't figure out what was going on with him. He even cried through his whole bath, which is NOT NORMAL. I called Mike at work & told him that something was wrong. I said I think he might have a tummy ache & I was going to give him some Mylacon drops & put a warm rice bag on his tummy while cuddling with him to make it better...It was NOT WORKING. I then remembered...you now have essential oils, figure out which one will help his tummy & use it. I looked really quick & Peppermint said that it would help calm an upset stomach by rubbing a drop on his tummy or feet. I rubbed some on both & not even a minute later, he was tooting & happy & back to his normal self! I was RELIEVED!

Last Weeks Highlights

Here are some happenings in our house last week:

*Gavin started Clapping.

*We used the last Milk bag last Thursday the 1st of April.

*I am starting to ween.

*Still training for my 5k in June - I am really going to train this time so I do MUCH better then last time.

*I put Gavin in his first "time out" & I think he had more fun in his crib then playing in Bear's food & water dish - hehe.

*Gavin learned how to go up the stairs. He did it at Mike's Sister's house yesterday. We haven't tried it with him before because we are ALWAYS upstairs. He even went down 1 step by himself.

*We are trying to find a day care provider in the Eagle Mountain area who isn't going to charge us an arm & a leg to watch our little guy no more then 20 hours per week (plug) If you know someone, please let me know! Thanks!

*We are still trying to sell our house...no bites yet. I have my theories & so does Mike, we will just see what happens.

*Gavin's Clogged Tear Duct eye (Right eye) is still draining like CRAZY lately. It is either starting to unclog itself, or it is getting worse...so a scope will be in our future this summer.

*We (My Sister-in-law) & I went to get the kids' Easter Pictures taken on Saturday...that was a disaster! We did get some good pictures, but the two little one where not having much of it a lot of the time! We are still traumatized!
